J. Patrick Anderson was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and raised in Upstate New York. He moved to Palm Beach County, Florida with his family in 1971. Following graduation from Florida Atlantic University in 1980 with a degree in social psychology, Mr. Anderson worked as a counselor in a community mental health center and substance abuse treatment program and, as a probation officer. He is married and has two grown daughters.

Mr. Anderson attended the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he served as a teaching assistant, research fellow and editor of the school law review. Mr. Anderson received his law degree in 1987, magna cum laude, graduating in the top of his class.

Following law school, Mr. Anderson attended the graduate tax program at the University of Florida where he received a Master of Laws degree in Taxation in 1988. After graduating from the University of Florida, Mr. Anderson practiced law in Atlanta, where he advised small and medium-size companies concerning tax and business matters. He moved to Brevard County in June, 1990.

In his practice, Mr. Anderson concentrates in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, business formations and contract law, as well as pension and employee benefits law. He also represents clients in matters before the Internal Revenue Service and the Florida Department of Revenue. Mr. Anderson is particularly experienced in representing physician practices and other healthcare professionals and related organizations. Mr. Anderson also represents a number of clients providing products and services in the high technology industry, including, in the aerospace, telecommunications, computer software development and information technology sectors. His training and experience in taxation has made him adept at structuring business transactions and relationships to most effectively use the tax laws to minimize adverse tax consequences and to avoid unnecessary tax liabilities for his clients. Mr. Anderson’s background in counseling and the depth and breadth of his knowledge and experience concerning people, business relationships and the law make him a trusted and valued resource for his clients.

Mr. Anderson is a member of the Florida Bar and the State Bar of Georgia. He is admitted to practice before all courts of both Florida and Georgia, before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and before the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the Tax Section and Health Law Section of The Florida Bar. Mr. Anderson is Board Certified in tax law.
