J. Patrick Anderson was raised in upstate New York and moved to Palm Beach County, Florida with his family in 1971. Following graduation from Florida Atlantic University in 1980 with a degree in social psychology. Mr. Anderson worked as a counselor in a community mental health center and as a probation officer. He is married and has two daughters.
Mr. Anderson attended the Nova Southeastern University School of Law in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he served as a teaching assistant, research fellow and editor of the school law review. Mr. Anderson received his law degree in 1987, magna cum laude, graduating 9th out of 212 in his class.
Following law school, Mr. Anderson, attended the graduate tax program at the University of Florida where he received a Master of Laws degree in Taxation in 1988. After graduation from the University of Florida, Mr. Anderson practiced law in Atlanta, where he advised small and medium-size companies concerning tax and corporate matters.
Mr. Anderson concentrates in the areas of pension and employee benefits and in corporate and business transactions. He also represents clients in matters before the Internal Revenue Service. He has significant experience and training in structuring business transactions to most effectively use the tax laws and to reduce potential adverse tax ramifications to his clients.
Mr. Anderson is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and The Florida Bar. He is admitted to practice before all courts of both Georgia and Florida, before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and before the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the Tax Section and Health Law Section of The Florida Bar. Mr. Anderson is Board Certified in taxation.
