Laura L
Laura L. Anderson
was born and raised in
Mobile, Alabama. She is married and
has two daughters. She attended
Florida State University, and graduated with honors in 1983 with a Bachelor of
Science degree in economics. While
in Tallahassee, Ms. Anderson was actively involved in numerous campus
organizations, holding leadership positions in student government and her
sorority, Chi Omega, and singing with the University Singers.
She was honored to be tapped in membership to Gold Key and Pi Gamma Mu
(leadership and academic honorary societies), and selected among statewide
applicants to serve as an intern in the Office of former Governor Bob Graham.
Ms. Anderson returned to Alabama for law school, graduating from the
University of Alabama School of Law in 1986.
While in law school she served as associate editor of the Law and
Psychology Review. After graduation
she spent one year in Montgomery, Alabama as staff attorney to Alabama Supreme
Court Justice Janies L. Shores, the first woman in United States history to be
elected as a state Supreme Court justice, and then went back to school, this
time to the University of Florida, earning a Masters of Law degree in taxation
in 1988.
Ms. Anderson practiced with an established law firm in Atlanta, Georgia
for two years, assisting clients in tax and estate planning. In search of a better quality of life, Ms. Anderson and her
husband, Patrick, left successful careers in Atlanta and moved to Brevard County
in June of 1990. Since arriving in
Florida, Ms. Anderson has limited her practice to the areas of estate planning,
probate and guardianship law, with particular emphasis on Medicaid planning.
Ms. Anderson serves on the Board of Directors of various organizations
including the Senior Resource Alliance, Brevard County Estate Planning Council,
and the Space Coast Chapter of the Florida State Guardianship Association. She
is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Elder Law and
Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Sections of The Florida Bar.
She is admitted to practice before the courts of the states of Florida,
Georgia and Alabama. Ms. Anderson is Board Certified in Wills, Trusts and Estates.
