Don't fear the estate plan -- embrace it instead

Many Florida residents -- and, indeed, people all around the country -- may shudder when they hear the phrase "estate plan." They may think that getting one is a difficult and arduous journey, and that it isn't worth their time to put together such an estate plan. They may also  think that an estate plan is only for "older people" who have accumulated a lifetime of assets.

Well we are here to tell you that many of these myths and early impressions about estate plans are mostly false or incorrect. Obviously the choice resides with each individual how (or if) they want to pursue an estate plan. However, allow us to make two critical points as to why you need an estate plan.

The first is that, sadly, life isn't fair. One day you could be a healthy 25-year-old with your entire life ahead of you, and the next you could be killed in a car accident. We say this to not just to highlight how fragile life is -- but given this, why it is so important to protect the assets, however many you may have, for the sake of your family and loved ones.

The other element here is that even though getting an estate plan may sound difficult, it's probably not as difficult as you may think. Yes, there are some hurdles to clear and some hoops to jump through, but with an experienced attorney by your side, you can put together a thorough estate plan that will leave you and your family happy.

If you are in need of such legal help, please give us a call at the Law Offices of Frese Hansen. We will help you put together the documents and logistical elements that will eventually comprise your estate plan.
