Hurricane season can be busy for contractors, don’t get scammed

Hurricane season is a time during which residents remain alert and ensure they are keeping track of the tropics. There is a scramble after the hurricane hits to ensure that homes and businesses are fixed. This is a business boom for contractors and even handymen who are prepared to help people get things back together. Unfortunately, it is also a time that scammers might come out of the woodwork.

Property owners have to ensure that they are working with someone reputable so that they know the project will be done properly. There are some cases in which it seems like the contractor is an upstanding person but still doesn’t do the job in the proper way.

There are two types of issues that you must be careful about when you are hiring someone for any construction project. The first of these is that the person takes your deposit and doesn’t do any work at all. The second is that the work is done but it is so shoddy that it is unsafe. In both cases, you might decide that you are going to take legal action.

We know that you might not relish the thought of having to go through a court battle; however, you also don’t want to let the person steal money from you. We are here to help you evaluate the terms of the contract governing the project, if there is one. From there, we can work with you to attempt to recover the money or have the project corrected or completed. You need to think about what your ultimate goal is for your case, so we can pursue that goal.
