Mom, daughter want Justin Bieber to pay for no meet-and-greet

Last year, a Broward county judge awarded a mother and daughter $5,298.75 in a default judgment against singer Justin Bieber. The lawsuit alleged that the pop star refused to appear for a meet-and-greet session, which came with the two concert tickets the woman purchased.

It hasn’t been so easy to get the money, even though Bieber is reportedly worth $225 million. As a result, the woman has hired an attorney with the sole task of collecting on the judgment.

The attorney first tried to garnish the singer’s wages and royalties from Universal Music. That didn’t prove successful. The attorney has now served the Fontainebleau Miami Beach with a subpoena for any financial records that pertain to Bieber’s appearance there on New Year’s Eve. Tickets for that event began at $500. The reason why the attorney wants those records? He wants to get a hold of the bank account where the resort sent the money. Then he can file more paperwork to seize the judgment amount, plus 4.9 percent interest.

The lawsuit states that the woman paid $1,856.35 for the two tickets. The judgment includes the ticket price and another $3,240 in court costs and legal fees. Bieber didn’t appear to contest the allegations, nor did he hire an attorney to do so for him.

If you believe you have received the short end of the stick in a business dealing or are in the midst of a contract dispute, an attorney can help you present your case to the court. He or she can help you learn about your legal options.
